Rules for Survival

love yourself first.
if you don’t look out for yourself, who will? sure, your family and friends got your back but at the end of the day, you’re the only one who is going to make things happen. look out for yourself first.

it is what it is.
there is no point in worrying about things you can’t change, so just accept that things are what they are and move on. it’ll make your life much easiesr.

don’t let anyone steal your joy.
a friend of mine once told me not to let the minor things (or even the big things) get in the way of losing sight of your number one objective: success.

be polite and ladylike at all times.
you can get way further ahead in life if you just act like you have some class.

mi casa es tu casa (to a certain point).
if you see that your generosity and hospitality will not be returned, point to the door.

have a don’t tell, don’t ask policy.
this works in any life situation: if information isn’t shared with you, it’s not vital to know.  don’t question things.  if you don’t know, you can’ t get in trouble.

don’t go looking for trouble.
find positive ways to keep yourself occupied so you don’t go looking for ways to get in trouble.
